About The Inner West Eisteddfod
The Inner West Eisteddfod Inc (IWE) is a non-profit organisation founded in 1984. Its objective is to nurture and encourage young people in the performing arts, giving them a valuable opportunity to develop confidence and skill and to benefit from expert assessment. All entrants gain from the highly skilled and experienced adjudicators the IWE contract to judge performances.
Adjudicators are drawn from both teachers and performers. Events are run annually usually between the months of May and September but this can vary. Venues for performances include Woodstock Community Centre, and school and church halls in Sydney’s inner west, in areas such as Burwood, Concord & Strathfield. The IWE organises and runs sections for Piano, Strings, Speech and Drama. Major yearly events are the Marcus Edwards Violin Prize and the Miriam Hyde Piano Award.
